The team travelled to Fair Isle, which lies about halfway between mainland Shetland and Orkney, it is arguably the most remote and inhospitable telecoms site in the United Kingdom. Completing the works over 2 visits accessing the remote isle (with only 20 inhabitants) is a huge task in itself.
Mobilising a 6 person team, armed with the usual arsenal of specialist equipment, materials is a huge challenge. Historically favourable weather windows have come in April and in 2018 we successfully accessed the island and completed the 46m tower in 14 days. This site could also be regarded as one of the most challenging sites in the UK, but the team at Sovereign once again called upon their wealth of experience, to ensure the job was completed successfully and safely.
